The evolution in the industry is still barely keeping up.
In the process, the diversity of hazardous products or preparations is only increasing.
Virtually every company uses them and they come in all kinds of forms and packaging.
The risks posed by these products are not insignificant.
Storage, trading and handling of such products poses risks to workers and the environment.
In some cases, inappropriate handling of such products may even take several years to become apparent.
Expertise and caution are required in any handling of hazardous materials.
Within the framework of a welfare and prevention policy, it is an obligation to prevent the use of hazardous substances as much as possible.
If this is not possible, perhaps a less hazardous substance is an alternative, otherwise attention should be paid to extraction, reduction of exposure, use of protective equipment and, very importantly, providing information and instructions.
As an employer, it is of prime importance to provide employees with the correct information and instructions so that they can protect themselves from exposure to hazardous substances in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as spills and leaks, but proper training is also necessary during normal use.
This training includes of course a theoretical part in which the general principles of handling dangerous substances and the legal framework are covered.
On the other hand, a lot of practical tips are provided, using examples and photo material, specifically aimed at the hazards within the company.
And the theory is tested against practice within the company, in real conditions.
After this training, the knowledge gained is immediately usable and the knowledge gained will immediately reduce the risk of incidents.
